Kandahar Air Field (KAF) is a major US and NATO air hub supporting operations and logistics located in southwestern Afghanistan, just south of Kandahar City. Under contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Berger/Cummins is contracted to commission and operate and maintain an existing 2 MW, 60 Hz MILCON diesel plant along with associated switchgear and 13.8 kV distribution.

The scope includes:

  • Design, build, supply, install, test and commission generator sets and electrical equipment for a complete operating power plant and associated step down transformers and switchgear;
  • Commission the existing plant and equipment provided and installed by others and place into operation; and
  • Provide 24/7 operations and mainteance services for the power plant and the distribution system.
