Camp Marmal is located at the foot of the Marmal mountains in north central Afghanistan near Mazir-e-Sharif in Balkh Province along the border with Uzbekistan. Under contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers and to support the northwest airfield expansion, Berger/Cummins is designing and building a 1.6 MW, 60 Hz diesel plant along with 120/208 volt local distribution.

The scope includes:

  • Design, build, supply, install, test and commission generator sets and electrical equipment for a complete operating power plantand associated step down transformers and switchgear;
  • Supply of equipment and transportation to the power plant site;
  • Design and construction of an above-ground fuel supply and storage system, adequate for 48 hours supply;
  • All site civil works, mechanical and electrical installation;
  • Design, build, supply, install, test and commission a complete low voltage local distribution system; and
  • Provide 24/7 operations and maintenance services for the power plant and the distribution system.
