Al-Asad Airbase, located in the Al-Anbar region, is the second largest U.S. Military base in Iraq and the largest Coalition base in western Iraq. The Berger/Cummins Joint Venture was contracted to design, construct, operate and maintain a contractor-furnished 35-megawatt power plant and operate and maintain the primary underground distribution system on the base.

When the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requested the replacement of the incumbent contractor plant, Berger/Cummins provided a seamless switchover and minimal interruption to base operations. Berger reengineered the entire plant with construction in three phases to integrate new and existing equipment with Cummins’s switchgear while meeting air base prime power requirements at no additional cost to the government.

In March 2010, Berger/Cummins was contracted by the Base Command Group at Al Asad Airbase to design and construct the routing of underground power distribution to connect Al Asad's Postal Distribution Center and adjacent ramp flood lights to the base's electrical grid. Learn more >>>
