The 74-megawatt prime power plant at Victory Base Complex East consists of a new 54-megawatt plant designed and constructed by Berger/Cummins, an integrated and previously existing 20-megawatt Government furnished MILCON plant, and an electrical infrastructure upgrade comprised of a new 100-megawatt bus/switchgear, 40-megawatt substation and six new 11kV overhead distribution feeders. A fuel farm was constructed to supply the power plant in addition to the fuel farm that supplies the MILCON plant.
The six new feeders provide overhead distribution over a 23-square-mile area, replacing 103 spot generators. The removal of these spot generators saves the Government millions of dollars a year in fuel and operations and maintenance expenses.
The Berger/Cummins Victory Base Complex East plant provides power to U.S. Military and Multi-National Forces-Iraq Headquarters along with control facilities and communications infrastructure, making our provision of continuous and reliable power critical to military operations.
The 74-megawatt plant at VBC-East is the US Military's largest expeditionary prime power plant serving a military base.
