Berger/Cummins Receives New Delivery Orders in Iraq
Washington, DC – In June 2010, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, issued four new delivery orders extending Berger/Cummins Joint Venture contracts in Iraq. Under a previous five year USACE contract to provide Worldwide Emergency Power Operations and Maintenance Services, these new delivery orders extend Berger/Cummins services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom / New Dawn for an additional two years, to the year 2012, with a total contract value now up to $550 million. Under these new delivery orders, Berger/Cummins prime power services will continue at the two largest US Military bases in Iraq—Victory Base Complex and Al Asad Air Base.
Berger/Cummins provides power plant and medium voltage distribution system design and construction, equipment procurement, and operations and maintenance. This currently includes the power generation and distribution systems for 155 MW of continuous and reliable power at four sites on three military bases in Iraq. On Victory Base Complex, Berger/Cummins provides prime power to the US Military and Multi-National Forces Iraq Headquarters, the military communications infrastructure, and Sather Air Force Base, as well as to the thousands of military and civilian personnel stationed on-base and transitioning out of theater.
Berger/Cummins central power plants have saved literally hundreds of millions of dollars through gains in operating efficiency by eliminating the associated fuel and maintenance costs of spot generation.
